Turtlegrass
where the cool people hang out...

Welcome!

This page is for those that are or intend to cruise the NW Caribbean area and happen upon our website. I will include as many links as I can find but first I want to give you information about our location since it is not that well known and is a nice quiet place to anchor and rest. Calabash Bight (Bay) also happens to be the favorite hurricane hole for the island! Lori and I enjoy meeting and getting together with cruisers and can inform them about local places and things to do while here. At times we have to run down island or out west and will take interested cruisers with us in our blue whale (our Hyundai truck that seats 6 adults!) for a great time shore side. Presently we have a good WiFi system here and in the near future will have a small Palapa or meeting shack for all to use.

For entry into Calabash Bight, Roatan Island, Honduras:

Outside Initial approach fix: 16.23.430N  086.20.066W, this will line you up for entry. When you see the small green marker you will realize why this approach is used.

Red Entrance Marker Buoy: 16.23.521N  086.20.131W  We just installed this on the very edge of the cut leave to starboard and close to it by no less than 20 feet. Steer app. 320 deg to next marker.

Red Inside Marker: 16.23.769N  086.20.301W  This marks a cut though an inside reef, leave to starboard and pass close (10-15') as this cut is only 50 feet wide.

Continue on app. compass brng 320 deg. to an anchor spot you prefer but here is one spot: 16.23.893N  086.20.374  this is a good holding area.
